With 4 en-suite bedrooms and a staff of up to 8 people, Houghton House offers our guests a bespoke experience ideal for families, friends and groups.
The building, made of sustainably sourced wood and with local craftsmen, complements its surroundings in the Alpine pearl village of Mallnitz. The floor-to-ceiling atrium window of the open living area immerses you in the mountains and valleys of the Hohe Tauern National Park and offers you the alpine experience without leaving the door. Right next to the window is a wood stove where you can make yourself comfortable and watch the clear sky on those cold winter nights. The fully equipped kitchen offers a view of the Ankogel ski arena and the Tauern valley.
All bedrooms have the versatility to be set up as double or twin rooms. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor and have been specially designed to allow access for everyone. The larger of these two rooms has its own door that opens to the front terrace. With level entrances throughout the ground floor, wide doors and modern ensuite wet rooms, our ground floor offers easy access for wheelchair users.
Upstairs are two more bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on either side of a large mezzanine. This versatile space offers additional seating and a collection of books and games. At either end of the mezzanine there is a secluded snug and work area - if you need to check into the real world while on vacation, you can do so in relative peace.
Outside the chalet there is a spacious, covered carport with easy access to the front and rear of the building. Additional uncovered parking spaces are available at the rear of the chalet. The front terrace extends onto a private enclosed garden with a large lawn and barbecue area.
In the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the Houghton Haus invites you to the beautiful mountain village of Mallnitz. Surrounded by high mountain peaks, lush green meadows and clear rivers, Mallnitz is an ideal retreat. Whether peace or adventure and adrenaline - Mallnitz has it all.
Before you even enter Houghton House, we have taken care of your ease of movement. Outside sees an undercover carport with ample space to open car doors fully. From here step free access is possible into both the front and back doors.
Our main entrance sees an extra wide door from the outside. From the entrance way a large double door opens into the spacious open plan living area. Tilled floors throughout all the communal areas downstairs aids transitions through rooms
Extra features of the kitchen include an additional lowered worksurface / breakfast bar. A slide and hide style oven which eliminates the need to lean over a hot oven door to add anything to the meal. A remote control is available for the extractor fan so no unnecessary reaching or stretching is needed.
Throughout downstairs the light switches are lowered to waist height and the plug sockets are raised up from the ground level so there is no need for any unnecessary bending to charge up those holiday essentials.
Both downstairs bedrooms feature a sliding door through to the ensuite wetrooms. Here you will find weight bearing sinks with integrated handles and modern stylish grab handles for the shower and toilet.
