Vila Rira is a small boutique nature retreat located in the village of Rrajcë, in eastern Albania, near the UNESCO-listed Shebenik National Park and within reach of Lake Ohrid and other natural and cultural destinations in the region.
The Villa was created after years of living and studying abroad, with the idea of returning to Albania and building a place centred around slower, more conscious, and place-based hospitality. Rather than mass tourism, Vila Rira focuses on calm, authenticity, comfort, and meaningful connection with the surrounding landscape and local way of life.
The property currently consists of 8 rooms across two buildings, combining modern comfort with a warm and cosy atmosphere. A medium-sized restaurant is currently under development and will focus on local cuisine, seasonal ingredients, and traditional flavours prepared with care.
Most of our guests are international travellers interested in hiking, nature, rural landscapes, local food, and quieter forms of travel beyond Albania’s more crowded destinations. Many visitors come simply to slow down, rest, read, walk, explore the mountains, or disconnect from busy urban routines.
Our environmental approach is based on small-scale hospitality that respects the local landscape, rhythm of life, and natural resources of the region. We try, as much as possible, to work with local and seasonal products, reduce waste, limit plastic use by favouring glass, and use more natural cleaning practices wherever possible.
Vila Rira is not designed as a resort or a fast-paced tourism destination, but rather as a peaceful space for travellers seeking nature, simplicity, comfort, and authentic experiences connected to place.
