Every year, Ecobnb drafts the Social Impact Description Document, a detailed report that highlights the results achieved and the environmental and social value generated by the platform in promoting sustainable tourism.
Ecobnb’s Environmental and Social Goals
Ecobnb aims to foster tourism that is more respectful of the environment and local communities. Through the platform Ecobnb.com, we connect responsible travelers with eco-sustainable accommodations, supporting those who invest in a better future.
Ecobnb’s main goals are:
- Creating a meeting point between responsible travelers and eco-friendly accommodations;
- Contributing to the climate action plan and providing tools to calculate the environmental savings of sustainable travel;
- Raising awareness of responsible tourism and spreading best sustainability practices;
- Expanding the network of accommodations engaged in eco-tourism innovation;
- Combating climate change by reducing CO2 emissions and promoting tree planting.
The Social Impact Description Document of Ecobnb
The Social Impact Description Document analyzes:
- Ecobnb’s mission and social objective;
- The definition of stakeholders involved in our community;
- Outputs, tangible and measurable results produced by activities and projects;
- Outcomes, the changes resulting from Ecobnb’s activities and projects;
- Attribution, identifying valuable actions to be considered;
- Deadweight, the additional environmental and social value generated by Ecobnb;
- The calculation of Social Return On Investment (SROI), the numerical value of the social return on investment generated by our project.
Ecobnb’s Social Impact and Results
In its ninth year of operation (January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023), Ecobnb achieved significant milestones:
- 2,518,297 users accessed the platform to gather information and travel more sustainably;
- More than 6 million pages visited;
- 438 new eco-friendly accommodations joined the platform;
- 6,525 nights booked through Ecobnb (almost double the previous year);
- 35,162 kg of CO2 saved, with a social value of €7,032 and an environmental impact equivalent to 462,199 trees preserved.
The economic value of the social impact generated in the first 9 years of Ecobnb’s activity (2014-2023) amounts to over €1,850,000.
