What sparked your passion for environmental sustainability?
The spark came from our deep love for Sicily and the awareness that preserving its beauty is both a responsibility and a duty. When we decided to create Ciriga Sicily Glamping Resort, we knew we didn’t just want to offer a unique experience to our guests but also to do so in harmony with the surrounding environment. Sustainability, for us, is not just a strategic choice but a personal value and a way to leave a positive legacy for future generations.
What are the key aspects of your eco-sustainability journey?
We focus on three fundamental aspects: respect for the environment, support for local communities, and guest awareness. Regarding environmental respect, we designed a structure that minimizes environmental impact, using sustainable materials and carefully managing resources like water and energy. We collaborate with local producers to highlight the territory and reduce transport-related emissions. Finally, we believe sustainability is a collective effort, so we encourage our guests to adopt small daily actions and participate in activities that promote respect for nature.
How would you describe your ideal “eco-traveler” guest?
Our ideal guest seeks an authentic experience, loves nature, and wants to reconnect with slower rhythms without sacrificing comfort.
They are curious, respectful, and appreciate details—from the beauty of a countryside sunset to the pleasure of tasting local products.
The ideal eco-traveler understands the value of sustainability and shares our desire to leave a positive impact, not just as a tourist but as an active part of a more conscious world.
What is the most meaningful review you have received, and what made it special?
One of the most touching reviews we received was from a couple who wrote:

This review is special because it captures the essence of our work: we don’t just want to offer accommodation; we want to create moments of deep connection with oneself, others, and nature.
Let’s debunk the myth that eco-sustainability is necessarily more expensive. Do you think ‘eco-friendly’ can also be ‘economical’?
Absolutely, eco-friendly can be economical. Sustainability often comes from intelligent resource management, such as energy savings, mindful water use, or purchasing local products, which reduce costs and waste. My advice to other businesses is to start with small steps, like eliminating single-use plastics or choosing sustainable suppliers.
It’s essential to see sustainability as a long-term investment, not just for the environment but also for economic well-being and the overall guest experience.
Which green initiatives have given you the most satisfaction? Which have been the most appreciated by your guests?
Among the initiatives that have given us the greatest satisfaction are the use of natural and recyclable materials for our lodges, the installation of efficient irrigation systems, and our support for local producers in providing food and beverages.
Our guests particularly appreciate the opportunity to engage in authentic experiences, such as organic product tastings and outdoor activities, and the fact that their stay has a reduced environmental impact.
Moreover, we love involving them in sustainable waste management. Our guests separate their organic waste, distinguishing between what can be fed to our animals and what should go into the compost bin for fertilizer. We’ve noticed that everyone participates enthusiastically, both adults and children—they love the idea that nothing goes to waste and that they can even feed our goats, making them happy!
