Picture a city that, for five days, turns into an open-air laboratory where science meets art, dreams intertwine with concrete action, and every gesture becomes an act of love for the planet. That city is Rovereto. From October 8–12, 2025, it hosts Song of the Earth | Il Canto della Terra, a festival that invites us to pause, reflect, and act together.

The journey actually begins on October 4 with the hike The Climate That Changes Us on Monte Zugna. This trek through forests and silence is a chance to confront climate change head-on: how it is reshaping our mountains, and what we can do in our daily lives to change the course.

During the festival, Rovereto becomes a crossroads of ideas and visions. There will be hands-on workshops where participants step into the shoes of UN delegates to negotiate the planet’s future, conferences to rethink and redesign our cities, and sessions dedicated to changing mountains, resilient plants, and communities taking action.

This is not just about listening: it’s about taking part. You can calculate your ecological footprint, explore interactive future scenarios, or simply draw inspiration from people who have made sustainability their way of life.

The healing power of art

Song of the Earth speaks through images, sounds, and colors. A sculpture and digital art exhibition will remind us of our origins, while a collective mural will slowly take shape on the wall of the former Tobacco Factory: painted with eco-friendly pigments that purify the air, it’s an artwork that doubles as a climate action.

Theater, music, and storytelling will bring to life stories of resilience and hope: from the floods in Emilia Romagna to the voices of young students imagining a different future.

And then come the moments of collective action: the Plastic Free Ride bike event to clean up streets and trails together, children’s workshops that teach through play that every gesture matters, and book presentations about forests, glaciers, and our shared future.

With its rich program, the festival is an invitation to live sustainability as a shared experience—made of small steps, meaningful encounters, and collective gestures.

Song of the Earth is a collective song—a call from the planet itself, urging us to choose where we stand. From October 8–12, Rovereto will be the place to respond: with open minds, attentive hearts, and the will to act.
