A Park Inspired by Nature’s Masterpieces

Nestled in the heart of Piedmont, Burcina Felice Piacenza Park is a masterpiece of landscape design and biodiversity. Founded by entrepreneur Giovanni Piacenza and later expanded by his son Felice, the park draws inspiration from English landscape gardens, characterized by vast green spaces and a harmonious blend of native and exotic plants. Since 1980, it has been recognized as a regional nature reserve. Today it preserves a rich botanical heritage with centuries-old trees, flowering meadows, and an internationally renowned botanical collection.

The first exotic species, including majestic sequoias, were planted in the lower part of the hill as early as 1848, alongside creating a small lake with fountains that are still visible today. Felice Piacenza, following in his father’s footsteps, dedicated more than fifty years to expanding the park. During these years he enhanced it with new trails, pathways, and the stunning Rhododendron Hollow, the jewel of the reserve.

Between May and June, Burcina Park transforms into an explosion of colors thanks to the blooming rhododendrons. The Rhododendron Hollow covers an area of about two hectares, creating a magical, fairytale-like landscape. Alongside this marvel, the park hosts a vast variety of tree species, ranging from native beech, chestnut, maple, and oak trees to exotic species that seamlessly integrate into the landscape, offering ever-changing scenery throughout the seasons.

Scenic Trails for Every Taste

One of the most fascinating aspects of Burcina Park is its breathtaking panoramic views. From here, visitors can enjoy a 180-degree vista stretching from the Serra of Ivrea to the Biella plain, with glimpses of Canavese and the rice fields of Vercelli.

The park is pedestrian-only and has three entrances: at the base, mid-height, and the highest point. To facilitate access for elderly (over 65) and disabled visitors, cars are allowed inside on Thursdays (non-holidays) and Saturday mornings.

Well-marked trails wind through woods, meadows, and clearings, offering routes suitable for everyone—perfect for those looking to relax in a stunning natural setting.
