Located in the village of Roussillon, in the Vaucluse region, the Ocher Trail is undoubtedly one of the must-see attractions in the Luberon park. This former ocher mine is now an extraordinary testament to the geological richness of the area. As you walk through the canyon valley, you’ll be amazed by the incredible variety of ocher colors, ranging from brown to vibrant orange, golden yellow, and brick red. A few steps from the trail, don’t miss the Ôkhra eco-museum, an old ocher factory transformed into a learning center focused on the extraction of natural pigments and the craft of color.

Also, visit the enchanting village of Lourmarin, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. Its majestic 12th-century castle, overlooking the village, is a meeting point for history, art, and architecture. You can also stroll through the narrow streets of the town center, admiring the many fountains and squares. Finally, discover the Protestant temple, the largest in Vaucluse, surrounded by beautiful olive groves.

The Abbey of Sénanque, in the Sénancole valley, is an ideal destination for a getaway in the Luberon park. Founded in the 12th century, the abbey showcases Romanesque Cistercian architecture that will enchant you with its elegance and simplicity. If you want to see the lavender fields in bloom, visit between late June and mid-July, but be aware that there will be many tourists. We recommend visiting the abbey off-season, as it is beautiful all year round. Click here for more information on visiting hours.

Don’t miss visiting the underground caves of Saint-Firmin, which house an extensive network of ancient cisterns, pipelines, and oil mills. Finally, enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding valley from the village’s many panoramic viewpoints.
