First documented in 1095, it is one of the best-preserved medieval sites in Piedmont and one of the most important landmarks of the <strong>Rete Romanica di Collina<\/strong> (Romanesque Hill Network).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The canonica is home to remarkable artistic features, including a magnificent cloister and a rare <strong>jub\u00e9<\/strong> (rood screen), whose sculptures retain their original colours. The first stage starts in Vezzolano and reaches <strong>Andezeno<\/strong>, covering almost 28 kilometres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A shorter route, meanwhile, connects <strong>Castelnuovo Don Bosco to Vezzolano<\/strong>, passing along secondary roads, through farmland and along trails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you walk, Romanesque architecture can be appreciated within the landscape that has preserved it. The route also passes through <strong>vineyards<\/strong>, an essential part of the local economy. The Romanesque churches are not simply monuments to visit one after another, but stages in a shared story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is not a single monument that creates the itinerary, but a network of small heritage sites that creates a new destination.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an interesting model from a tourism perspective, too: connecting several places helps distribute visitors&#8217; attention and encourages the discovery of small municipalities and local communities that are usually off the beaten track. Next to the canonica, there is an orchard dedicated to the recovery of ancient local fruit varieties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preserving these plants means protecting biodiversity, agricultural knowledge, and the memory of the landscape.
