Lagos and the Tango at Pra\u00e7a do Infante D. Henrique<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img width=\"870\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/lagos.png\" alt=\"Lagos\" class=\"wp-image-61137\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/lagos.png 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/lagos-536x302.png 536w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/lagos-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/lagos-570x320.png 570w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/lagos-344x194.png 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><figcaption>Lagos<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I arrived in <strong>Lagos<\/strong> from <strong>Lisbon<\/strong> by taking a bus from the <strong>Sete Rios<\/strong> station, Lisbon\u2019s central bus station, from where many buses depart daily to almost every part of Portugal. The bus I took had Lagos as its final destination and it took just a couple of hours to get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are in the heart of the <strong>Algarve<\/strong>, the southern region of Portugal, where you&#8217;ll find beautiful sandy beaches and enchanting natural landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All over the city, there are many charming spots such as <strong>Ponta de Piedade<\/strong> or <strong>Praia dos Pinheiros<\/strong>. I recommend visiting the historic city center, from old churches to the scenic waterfront and artisan shops hidden in the alleys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you love markets, in central Lagos, usually on Saturday mornings, there\u2019s a wonderful farmers\u2019 market where you can find fresh fish and other local gastronomic products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img width=\"870\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Diseno-sin-titulo-6.png\" alt=\"Lagos\" class=\"wp-image-61138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Diseno-sin-titulo-6.png 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Diseno-sin-titulo-6-536x302.png 536w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Diseno-sin-titulo-6-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Diseno-sin-titulo-6-570x320.png 570w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Diseno-sin-titulo-6-344x194.png 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><figcaption>Tango, artisan shops and Rota Vicentina map<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, on the third Sunday of the month, if you pass through <strong>Pra\u00e7a do Infante D. Henrique<\/strong> in the evening, you\u2019ll find amateur dancers dancing to the rhythm of the Tango. You can join them and try out your dancing skills \u2013 it\u2019s truly a magical moment!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the city, you can ask local shopkeepers or residents for directions to start the Fishermen\u2019s Trail, but it\u2019s easy to find as there are signs along the way. To be sure, you can also check the official <a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/en\/fishermens-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rota Vicentina website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>2. Luz: Fishing Village<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the coastline, you soon arrive in <strong>Luz<\/strong>. You can choose to get there by bus or on foot. The trail from Lagos to Luz is not very long and fairly easy. Looking out to the sea, you\u2019ll see the rocks that frame Luz beach \u2013 the most iconic of which is definitely Rocha Negra, a volcanic rock formation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>3. A fantastic destination for a <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/portugal-4\/guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sustainable trip<\/a> surrounded by nature and perfect for getting lost among rich <strong>biodiversity<\/strong> and unique <strong>sunsets<\/strong> with incredible colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s impossible to get lost in this small town where nature and surfboards are the true stars. You can take long walks along the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2024\/03\/western-algarve-portugal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sagres<\/a><\/strong> coastline and enjoy sunsets with hues that only <strong>Portugal<\/strong> can offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img width=\"870\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Sagres-ph.png\" alt=\"Sagres\" class=\"wp-image-61141\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Sagres-ph.png 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Sagres-ph-536x302.png 536w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Sagres-ph-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Sagres-ph-570x320.png 570w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Sagres-ph-344x194.png 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><figcaption>Sagres<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A must-see destination here is <strong>Cabo De S\u00e3o Vicente<\/strong>: considered the westernmost point of mainland Europe. The bus is the ideal way to get there \u2013 a couple of them depart from Sagres and take you straight to this promontory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>4. Zambujeira do Mar: Where Time Stands Still<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img width=\"870\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar.png\" alt=\"Zambujeira do Mar\" class=\"wp-image-61142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar.png 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-536x302.png 536w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-570x320.png 570w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-344x194.png 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><figcaption>Zambujeira do Mar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Zambujeira do Mar<\/strong> is the fourth stop on this journey along the <strong>Rota Vicentina<\/strong> and perhaps one of my favorites. I recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2020\/12\/eco-hotel-in-portugal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">staying<\/a> here for a few days \u2013 it&#8217;s worth exploring and enjoying this charming little town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This place feels almost wrapped in a magical aura, with its wild coastline and rural atmosphere \u2013 perfect for leaving behind the city rush. The surrounding <strong>nature<\/strong> and the picturesque village are ideal for a <strong>relaxing holiday<\/strong> immersed in local Portuguese culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img width=\"870\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-1.png\" alt=\"Zambujeira do Mar\" class=\"wp-image-61143\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-1.png 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-1-536x302.png 536w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-1-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-1-570x320.png 570w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Zambujeira-do-Mar-1-344x194.png 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><figcaption>Zambujeira do Mar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I suggest visiting <strong>Praia de Zambujeira do Mar<\/strong> and venturing out to <strong>Capela de Nossa Senhora do Mar<\/strong>, which overlooks the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>5. Vila Nova de Milfontes: A Picturesque Portuguese Town<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuing along the Fishermen\u2019s Trail, we come across another wonderful stop: <strong>Vila Nova de Milfontes<\/strong>. This town is located between the <strong>Mira River<\/strong> and the <strong>Atlantic Ocean<\/strong>, with its center characterized by cobbled streets and typical white Portuguese houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img width=\"870\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Vila-Nova-de-Milfontes.png\" alt=\"Vila Nova de Milfontes\" class=\"wp-image-61144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Vila-Nova-de-Milfontes.png 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Vila-Nova-de-Milfontes-536x302.png 536w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Vila-Nova-de-Milfontes-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Vila-Nova-de-Milfontes-570x320.png 570w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Vila-Nova-de-Milfontes-344x194.png 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><figcaption>Vila Nova de Milfontes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I noticed that most tourists here were locals. A place I recommend visiting is the <strong>Fort of Milfontes<\/strong>, built in the 16th century to defend the town from pirate attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here too, you\u2019ll be surrounded by lush and vibrant <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.it\/blog\/2021\/06\/parti-allavventura-nei-parchi-naturali-piu-belli-del-portogallo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nature<\/a><\/strong>, with beautiful beaches and landscapes that are a feast for the eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>6. Porto Covo and the Colors of the Ocean<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img width=\"870\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Porto-Covo.png\" alt=\"Porto Covo\" class=\"wp-image-61145\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Porto-Covo.png 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Porto-Covo-536x302.png 536w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Porto-Covo-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Porto-Covo-570x320.png 570w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/07\/Porto-Covo-344x194.png 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><figcaption>Porto Covo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve arrived at the final stop of this incredible journey along the <strong>Rota Vicentina<\/strong>, where every place is a magical opportunity to rediscover the environment and promote <strong>local economies<\/strong> and environmental protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are also beautiful beaches and typical white houses here. I recommend visiting <strong>Ilha do Pessegueiro<\/strong>, an island located 250 meters off the coast of <strong>Porto Covo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The center of Porto Covo is small, but it\u2019s worth a walk, especially for the friendliness of the locals you\u2019ll meet along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re here in July, you can attend the famous music festival &#8220;<strong>Festival M\u00fasicas do Mundo<\/strong>&#8221; which is held every year in July between <strong>Sines<\/strong> and <strong>Porto Covo<\/strong>.
