In the heart of Umbria, among the hills<\/strong> that embrace Assisi, Gubbio and Perugia, stands the Agriturismo San Lorenzo<\/a><\/strong>, an ancient farmhouse<\/strong> transformed into an oasis of eco-sustainable hospitality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners of the Ecobnb Award<\/strong><\/a>, Monica <\/strong>and Stoyan<\/strong> have made their passion for nature <\/strong>and responsible tourism a mission, as they told us in this interview. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walks<\/strong> among the olive groves, meetings with farm animals<\/strong>, relaxing evenings under a starry sky <\/strong>and authentic flavours from the garden to the table: Agriturismo San Lorenzo offers a green experience that combines sustainability, tradition and well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was the spark that ignited your passion for environmental sustainability?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I don’t think there was a real spark, but it was rather the maturing of the awareness<\/strong> that if each of us doesn’t make their own part in the path to sustainability, not only environmental but also social, there is no great hope for the future of us and planet Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which aspects do you consider fundamental in your eco-sustainability journey?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First of all, respect for nature<\/strong>, its rhythm and laws. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can’t always force our hand on nature, trying to minimise the impact that we have on it. For this reason, although we haven’t taken the the path of organic certification we cultivate our garden following thee dictates of organic farming<\/strong>. Our birds, (hens, ducks, geese, turkeys and peacocks) have a space of almost one hectare. We use the energy produced by solar panels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our restaurant<\/strong> we cook the products of our farm<\/strong> or local farms, which we have chosen because they share our production philosophy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How would you describe your ideal “eco-traveler” host?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our ideal host is definitely a person who loves and respects nature, that seeks the simplicity<\/strong> and tranquility<\/strong> of our place. They want to rediscover the taste of the products of the earth<\/strong> in our simple but at the same time rich cuisine of taste and authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the most significant review you have received and what made it special?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I cannot think of a particular review, but we are extremely pleased when in the reviews besides emphasising the fact that they feel at home<\/strong>, emphasise as strengths the eco-sustainable<\/strong> nature of the place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ecologic” can also be “economic”?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More than economic I would say that ecologic should be associated with fair in price<\/strong>, so it must be sustainable for the customer but at the same time also for the structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We try to keep costs down first of all by trying to minimise waste<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buying products directly from local producers<\/strong> creates a network the eliminates intermediation and thus reduces costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, our kitchen focuses on the seasonality of products<\/strong> and giving priority to our products, thus avoiding unnecessary expenses for first fruits or extravagant products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which green initiatives have given you the greatest satisfaction? Which ones were the most appreciated by your guests?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Definitely our products, grown without the use of pesticides<\/strong>, harvested and cooked is for sure one of the most appreciated things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How the values and projects of Ecobnb resonate with those of your structure?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Surely there are many common points. Firstly, our commitment to reduce the environmental impact<\/a><\/strong> and in particular to create awareness<\/strong> on the importance of a more green tourism, more responsible towards the environment, the territory and local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also the fact of having made network with other producers in the area<\/strong> to be able to make sure that tourism has a positive impact on the territory allowing a sustainable economic development and therefore benefit all and especially the local population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agriturismo San Lorenzo is an experience that brings guests closer to the beauty of nature<\/strong>, Umbrian culture and values of sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
