The beautiful mountain region of Pinerolese<\/strong>, located in the heart of the Cozie<\/strong> Alps<\/strong>, offers travelers and especially bike<\/strong> enthusiasts<\/strong> a new initiative<\/strong> that promotes sustainable<\/strong> and slow<\/strong> tourism<\/strong>. The UpSlowTour<\/strong> portal is an exciting project that invites outdoor lovers to discover the beauty and richness of this area. With a particular focus on the territory of Val<\/strong> Pellice<\/strong> around the municipality of Pinerolo, in Piedmont<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the concept of “Up<\/strong>” because it is a mountainous region, “Slow<\/strong>” because it promotes slow tourism, and “Tour<\/strong>” because it highlights cycling, UpSlowTour offers visitors fifteen cycling<\/strong> routes<\/strong>, each categorized based on difficulty and type. The result is a network of over 400<\/strong> kilometers<\/strong> that passes through breathtaking<\/strong> landscapes<\/strong> and unique points of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project aims to promote sustainable development of the area, by enhancing the environmental resources but also the cultural aspects. The website allows users to explore the biodiversity<\/strong> of the area, learn about the traditions<\/strong> of the Waldensian world, and discover the linguistic<\/strong> minorities<\/strong> present in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UpSlowTour is constantly evolving. The goal is to equip each route with free e-bike charging stations<\/strong>, bike racks, and cycle totems for bike<\/strong> maintenance<\/strong>. Intermediate stations are provided for more challenging routes that require several hours of cycling. Additionally, informative<\/strong> totems<\/strong> are available, providing detailed information about the routes, such as difficulty level, elevation, type of terrain, and landscape context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UpSlowTour represents an extraordinary initiative to discover the beauty of Val<\/strong> Pellice<\/strong> in a sustainable<\/strong>, slow<\/strong>, and environmentally respectful manner<\/strong>. We have chosen route number 13,<\/a> the Loop of the Ridges. The itinerary winds between Bricherasio<\/strong> (388 m) and Colle<\/strong> Vaccera<\/strong> (1,502 m), staying along the ridge between Val Pellice and Val Chisone and offering splendid<\/strong> views<\/strong> towards both the plain and the valleys. On the way back, we take old<\/strong> mule<\/strong> tracks<\/strong> and tranquil secondary roads through the hilly areas of Angrogna<\/strong>, Luserna<\/strong>, and Bricherasio, allowing an elevated perspective of the villages in the lower valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the 38-kilometer route, we can reach Casa<\/strong> Payer<\/strong><\/a>, a countryside residence operating as a vegan<\/strong> accommodation<\/strong>. Surrounded by the forest, this renovated stone farmhouse immediately conquers us with its charming atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First and foremost, it is the life project of Luca and Paola, who, after returning from India, decided to live in nature and lead a rural<\/strong> life<\/strong>. From there, they had the idea to share this lifestyle with guests and travelers, offering a relational<\/strong> tourism<\/strong> experience<\/strong> that includes eco<\/strong>–sustainable<\/strong> stays<\/strong> and homemade<\/strong> vegan<\/strong> cuisine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a strong commitment to reducing<\/strong> the environmental<\/strong> impact<\/strong> of the house and its inhabitants. The hosts first recovered an existing house to avoid consuming additional land. Then they created draining<\/strong> walkways<\/strong> around the building, invested in a completely natural<\/strong> renovation<\/strong>, and implemented systems for rainwater recovery<\/strong>. They also take care of the surrounding forest, sourcing wood<\/strong> for baking<\/strong> bread and heating<\/strong> water and the house. They use only electricity from renewable<\/strong> sources<\/strong>, and their personal care and cleaning<\/strong> products<\/strong> are ecological<\/strong> and vegan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spaces are spacious and waiting to be discovered. There are raised-bed gardens<\/strong>, solariums<\/strong>, and even a birch forest with hammocks<\/strong>, a large beech tree, an oven, and a spacious panoramic<\/strong> room<\/strong> ideal for yoga activities. We sleep in one of the rooms, each with independent access, a private bathroom, and a terrace. And so we allow ourselves a slow<\/strong> and light<\/strong> vacation<\/strong>, in close contact with the wild<\/strong> nature<\/strong>. We can explore the nearby stream<\/strong>, fully experience the enchantment of the forest<\/strong>, and listen to the silence. We can also participate in sourdough bread-making sessions and discover the goodness of a vegetarian dinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
