{"id":44311,"date":"2022-01-01T19:19:26","date_gmt":"2022-01-01T18:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/?p=44311"},"modified":"2022-01-01T19:19:26","modified_gmt":"2022-01-01T18:19:26","slug":"vaia-dragon-lavarone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2022\/01\/vaia-dragon-lavarone\/","title":{"rendered":"The Vaia Dragon in Lavarone: from the Storm to the Work of Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This wooden sculpture, located among the Cimbri Highlands, in the Alpine Pearl of <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2019\/11\/lavarone-cimbrian-highlands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Lavarone<\/strong><\/a>, is the largest one in Europe and is the symbol of the rebirth of Triveneto woods, affected by the terrible <strong>Vaia storm<\/strong> of October 2018. In fact, the wood used comes from the trees fallen due to the strong bad weather of that period. The Vaia Dragon was made, between October and November 2021, by the Asiago sculptor <strong>Marco Martalar<\/strong>, within the project \u201cLavarone Green Land\u201d. The work, with its <strong>6 meters in height<\/strong> and <strong>7 meters in length<\/strong>, consists of <strong>2000 pieces of wood<\/strong> from the Vaia storm and <strong>3000 screws<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"thumbnail alignnone\"><img src=\"https:\/\/sb.ecobnb.net\/app\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/PXL_20211204_112827360.MP_-e1640273460203-536x715.jpg\" alt=\"Vaia Dragon, #dragovaia\" width=\"536\" height=\"715\" \/><div class=\"caption\">Photo by Martina Manzotti<\/div><\/div>\n<h2>Everything is transformed<\/h2>\n<p>Through the Vaia Dragon, <strong>Marco Martalar<\/strong> wanted to send a very clear message: nothing lasts forever and everything is transformed. In fact, the <strong>wood<\/strong> of the sculpture is <strong>untreated<\/strong> and, over time, it will deteriorate due to the effect of atmospheric agents. Therefore, it will change shape and, through <strong>decomposition<\/strong>, will form new <strong>humus for the woods<\/strong>. The trees unprooted by the storm will then be nourishment for other trees and will help to make them more flourishing.<\/p>\n<div class=\"thumbnail alignnone\"><img src=\"https:\/\/sb.ecobnb.net\/app\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/PXL_20211204_111714278.MP_-e1640602460260.jpg\" alt=\"Vaia Dragon, Vaia storm, Lavarone\" width=\"870\" height=\"653\" \/><div class=\"caption\">Photo by Martina Manzotti<\/div><\/div>\n<h2>How to get to the Vaia Dragon<\/h2>\n<p>The Vaia Dragon can be reached<strong> by foot<\/strong>, so as not to create discomforts to the hamlet of <strong>Magr\u00e8<\/strong>, where there are no car parks.<\/p>\n<p>The recommended <strong>starting points<\/strong> and parking spaces are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cappella<\/li>\n<li>Gionghi<\/li>\n<li>Bertoldi (here you can also use the chairlift to go up to the chalet \u201cTana Incantata\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How to get to the Dragon starting from the hamlets of Lavarone?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From <strong>Cappella<\/strong>, go towards the hamlet Longhi, follow the sings for <em>cost<\/em>, and then for <em>Lavarone trekking<\/em> up to hamlet Magr\u00e8. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alpecimbra.it\/it\/outdoor\/estate\/trekking\/103-0.html#bm=oac%3Asummer&amp;cat=Escursionismo-main,Passeggiata,Sentiero%20tematico&amp;dm=1&amp;filter=r-fullyTranslatedLangus-,r-onlyOpened-,sb-sortedBy-0&amp;ipd=64704654&amp;zc=11,11.27712,45.93969\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Route map from Cappella<\/a><\/li>\n<li>From <strong>Gionghi<\/strong>, after parking in the large school square, follow the pedestrian street that passes behind the Red Cross, in the direction of the historic center of the hamlet. Near the historic square of Gionghi you will find the signs of the path to follow towards Magr\u00e8. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alpecimbra.it\/it\/outdoor\/estate\/trekking\/103-0.html#bm=oac%3Asummer&amp;cat=Escursionismo-main,Passeggiata,Sentiero%20tematico&amp;dm=1&amp;filter=r-fullyTranslatedLangus-,r-onlyOpened-,sb-sortedBy-0&amp;ipd=64683335&amp;zc=11,11.27712,45.93969\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Route map from Gionghi<\/a><\/li>\n<li>From <strong>Bertoldi<\/strong>, walk up to the hamlet Slaghenaufi, and from there follow the signs to reach the <em>Chalet Tana Incantata<\/em>.
