This unique organization transforms the disadvantaged in Southeast Asia into independent lifelong learners<\/h2>\n<p>I was looking for an experience with an <strong>NGO<\/strong> because visiting a country for just a few days didn&#8217;t seem enough.\u00a0I didn&#8217;t expect to be a tourist, but to<strong>\u00a0&#8220;live the country&#8221;<\/strong> I was traveling to.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_41987\" class=\"thumbnail alignnone\"><img class=\"wp-image-41987 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/07\/55-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"old women\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/07\/55-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/07\/55-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><div class=\"caption\">Photo via www.openmindprojects.org<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Collaborating with a <strong>non-governmental organization<\/strong> was the perfect opportunity to both travel, know new people and their different realities, and share my own. Not yet, at least. But we video-called and it was such a great experience to listen to the story of <em>OMProjects<\/em> by its own co-founders:\u00a0<strong>Sven Mauleon and\u00a0Gaweechat Joompaula<\/strong>. One from Sweden and the other native to Thailand work together in the direction of a better future for the youngest.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the interview with Openmind Projects to know more about this great reality:<\/p>\n<h3>How did Openmind Projects come up?<\/h3>\n<p>Openmind Projects was conceived as a way to<strong> help underprivileged village kids to better learning opportunities<\/strong>. In the 21st Century, young people need to learn skills, not only be taught facts. Which ones?<\/h3>\n<p>The major problem for a small NGO is funding and limited resources.<\/p>\n<h3>OMProjects has a Training Center and Learning Camps. Every trainee at the center is sponsored for their education and living costs. We guide them in exploring issues such as <strong>Climate Change, Pollution, Technology<\/strong>. As a matter of fact, in 2018, we hosted more than 300 campers and raised around 15,000 dollars to run the camp.<\/p>\n<h3>I know you believe in climate-change awareness. But we hope to start them soon.<\/p>\n<h3>How, in your point of you, can ecotourism develop in Asia?<\/h3>\n<p>Creating <strong>environmental awareness<\/strong> amongst the young generation. We always do that at our camps.
