But, while stressing the importance of acting now<\/strong>, the associations launching the appeal are also drawing attention to one important fact connected to animal extinction. While the other 5 mass extinctions were the consequence of all-natural geological causes, the current mass extinction\u00a0is completely caused by men<\/a><\/strong>\u2026by us<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The current extinction crisis (yes, it is a crisis<\/strong>\u2026 not a change!) is the consequence of many human-induced factors – which often combine. Some of them include habitat degradation (through poisoning, logging, urbanization), over-exploitation (overfishing and unsustainable agriculture), climate change<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and pollution<\/a>, illegal hunting and illegal wildlife trafficking\u2026 and unfortunately, the list could go on.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sixth mass extinction<\/strong> we are going through could be the most serious environmental threat to the survival of our civilization since it is irreversible\u201d – experts say. By killing them, we are actually killing ourselves.<\/p>\n

We<\/strong> have the power to stop animal extinction, and we must act now<\/strong>. Everyone can make a change, small may it be, to protect not only the animals, but the whole environment (including ourselves).<\/p>\n

Work for more environmentally-friendly<\/a> (or at least more environmentally conscious) habits. First of all, beware<\/strong> and be aware<\/strong> of what you buy<\/strong>, and what you use<\/strong>. Always avoid buying potentially damaging products for the environment: avoid large corporations\u2019 products that involve resources and processes which have a harmful impact on the animals \u2013 and especially on the endangered ones.<\/p>\n

This also applies to cosmetics<\/strong><\/a>: avoid products made by companies that test their products on animals. Remember: we must stop animal testing, they don\u2019t know the answer!<\/strong><\/p>\n

When buying, you must read the labels<\/strong> on the packaging, in order to make sure the production process of that item did not involve any animal testing, nor environmentally dangerous practices.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
