They are usually served <strong>grilled<\/strong>, in a <strong>sauce of butter<\/strong>, <strong>garlic<\/strong>, and <strong>spicy red pepper<\/strong>. Make sure you show up at <strong>Lago das Furnas<\/strong> at 12:30 p.m. to see the various restaurants remove their huge <strong>metal stockpots<\/strong> from the <strong>holes<\/strong>, where the contents have been cooking since early morning in the geothermal heat. You will see <strong>steam<\/strong> billowing up from the <strong>ground<\/strong> and <strong>hot water<\/strong> bubbling up through each <strong>hole<\/strong> in the<strong> ground<\/strong>. Local <strong>families<\/strong> can also show up to claim other fumaroles for their own cooking needs. After dining, you can stroll down to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2020\/12\/waterfalls-azores\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>hot springs<\/strong><\/a> and botanical gardens on the grounds of <strong>Terra Nostra<\/strong>. The meat there is really good. If you want to try a traditional <strong>steakhouse<\/strong> go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.it\/Restaurant_Review-g189134-d2254911-Reviews-Alcides-Sao_Miguel_Azores.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Alcides<\/strong><\/a> in <strong>Ponta Delgada<\/strong> on\u00a0<strong>S\u00e3o Miguel<\/strong> Island. When you arrive there the waiter does not ask you \u201cWhat would you like to order?\u201d The question would be rather \u201cHow would you like your steak cooked?\u201d It arrives dotted with roasted <strong>garlic<\/strong> gloves and saut\u00e9ed <strong>red peppers<\/strong>, accompanied by <strong>french fries<\/strong>. If you get a <strong>burger<\/strong>, ask for Bolo <strong>L\u00eavedo<\/strong> as bread to put then inside the meat. Also, you must try \u201c<strong>Alcatra<\/strong>\u201d. It is a famous dish from <strong>Terceira island<\/strong>: Beef rump is <strong>slow-cooked<\/strong> with red wine, onions, garlic, allspice and black peppercorns. Normally it is served with a puffy, lightly <strong>sweet bread<\/strong> that is a nice foil for the salty meat. It is so tasty!<\/p>\n<h2>6. One hugely important dish is <strong>Holy Ghost soup<\/strong>, which is served at the Holy Ghost celebrations you will find all over the islands on the eight Sundays following <strong>Easter<\/strong>. It famously features bread soaked in a broth made from beef, chicken, pork, potatoes, and cabbage. <strong>Seafood<\/strong> <strong>soups<\/strong> are also popular, like <strong>Pico\u2019s octopus soup<\/strong>, or the fish soup from <strong>Maia<\/strong> on <strong>S\u00e3o Miguel<\/strong>. This cake was created when <strong>Queen Amelia<\/strong>, the last queen of Portugal, <strong>visited<\/strong> the island.
