1.Miradouro da Boca do Inferno<\/h2>\n

It is the most photographed<\/strong> Miradouro of the island<\/strong>. It is a viewpoint that overlooks Sete Cidades<\/strong> and Lagoa Azul<\/strong>. The area around the outlook was created by volcanic<\/strong> eruptions, which is where the name is derived. From the viewpoint, several volcanic craters<\/strong> are surrounding the area that makes the landscape very unique<\/strong>. These craters include Lagoa do Santiago<\/strong>, Lagoa Rasa<\/strong>, Caldeira do Alferes<\/strong>, Caldeira Seca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2.Miradouro da Logoa do Fogo<\/h2>\n

You can enjoy a fantastic view<\/strong> of the lake<\/strong> from the Miradouro da Lagoa do Fogo, and of both the North<\/strong> and South<\/strong> shores of the island<\/strong> from a single point. From this miradouro, there is a trail<\/strong> you can hike<\/strong> down to a beach along the shore of the lake.\u00a0With its intense blue<\/strong> colour, the lake, so crystal<\/strong> clear that it seems to be suspended in the sky<\/strong>, stands out amid bright green<\/strong> vegetation, with the Atlantic Ocean<\/strong> in the background. It is supposed to be the largest volcanic lake<\/strong> in the area and one of the youngest volcanoes, having erupted in the 16th century<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

3.Miradouro da Vista do Rei<\/h2>\n

Along the road to Sete Cidades<\/strong> is a cluster of flowering<\/strong> hydrangeas of all sizes. From the top<\/strong>, you can see two lakes<\/strong>, called twin lakes<\/strong>: one green<\/strong> and one blue<\/strong>, separated by a road<\/strong> that you can follow if you continue driving to Sete Cidades. It is located on the road next to an abandoned hotel<\/strong>. It is also close to a hiking trail<\/strong>. This trail starts at the viewpoint and ends in the village of Sete Cidades after about 2 hours of walking<\/strong>. It is such a picturesque<\/strong> scene! It was called like that after that the King D.Carlos I<\/strong> and the Queen D. Am\u00e9lia<\/strong> visited it on the 6th July 1901<\/strong>. 4.Miradouro da Vista dos Barcos<\/h2>\n

Here, you can get a view of Farol<\/strong> do Arnel lighthouse<\/strong>. This viewpoint is located nearby the village of Lomba do Moio<\/strong>. From this angle, you get a good idea of how steep the cliffs<\/strong> are. If you have time, we recommend hiking<\/strong> down to the lighthouse to get a closer look. This miradouro is also the first place on the coast from which it is possible to see the boats<\/strong> approaching the coast from the East<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5.Miradouro da Ponta do Escalvado<\/h2>\n

On the western<\/strong> side of the island<\/strong>, this miradouro is located at halfway between Mosteiros<\/strong> and Ferraria<\/strong>. You can enjoy two fantastic views<\/strong>, from one side you can see the village of Mosteiros, a small fishing village<\/strong> famous for its natural<\/strong> swimming pools<\/strong>, waterfalls<\/strong><\/a> and from the other one, you can enjoy the view of Ferraia<\/strong>. Climb up on to the wall to take your shots<\/strong> and jump<\/strong> back in again!<\/p>\n

6.Miradouro do Pico da Barrosa<\/h2>\n

In this viewpoint<\/strong>, you can enjoy a breathtaking<\/strong> view of Lagoa do Fogo<\/strong> and both the North<\/strong> and South<\/strong> shores of the island. This Miradouro is located in Vila Franca<\/strong>‘s territory, on the road that crosses the island from north to south from Ribeira Grande<\/strong>. Take your time to enjoy the beautiful view. If you arrive at the viewpoint to find your view of the lake<\/strong> obscured by cloud<\/strong>, don’t despair; the weather<\/strong> can and does change<\/strong> quickly on S\u00e3o Miguel.<\/p>\n

7.Miradouro da Ponta do Sossego<\/h2>\n

This viewpoint<\/strong> is located along the western coast<\/strong> in direction to Povoacao<\/strong>, amidst some verdant<\/strong>, well-manicured mountainside gardens<\/strong> and it offers outstanding views<\/strong> of the Atlantic Ocean<\/strong>. There, there is a large number of felines<\/strong> with whom to make friends. It is a flowery park<\/strong> with benches and tables, an ideal spot for a picnic<\/strong>. It is a colourful<\/strong> oasis. In a tile composition, you can read a poem<\/strong> by an Azorean who emigrated to America.<\/p>\n

8.Miradouro do Castelo Branco<\/h2>\n

Castelo Branco<\/strong> is a small tower<\/strong> located between Furnas<\/strong> and Vila Franca do Campo<\/strong>. This viewpoint<\/strong> is easy to reach, not far from Lagoa das Furnas<\/strong>. A climb to the top of the watchtower<\/strong> will give you a stunning view<\/strong> of the lake. It is funny to explore, and you can enjoy beautiful views. The legend<\/strong> says that some people erected this tower in order to control the adjacent land. Today, this building is used as a miradouro. Inside the tower, you will find a photogenic window<\/strong> where you can take beautiful pictures<\/strong> playing with silhouettes.<\/p>\n

9.Miradouro do Cerrado das Freiras<\/h2>\n

This is a spot located in the Cerrado das Freiras<\/strong> that offers you lovely views<\/strong> of the lagoons<\/strong> and the neighbouring villages<\/strong>. Here, you can get the picture of Sete Cidades<\/strong>‘ two lakes. From this viewpoint<\/strong>, you get a closer view of the Blue Lagoon<\/strong> and surrounding land. Unless you visit S\u00e3o Miguel<\/strong> in summer, it is very unlikely you will be able to see anything from here. Cloud seemed to build more readily around this part of the island and brought heavy wind<\/strong> and rain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

10.Miradouro de Santa Iria<\/h2>\n

Here you can find the loveliest viewpoints along the north coast<\/strong>. Miradouro de Santa Iria<\/strong> offers incredible views along S\u00e3o Miguel’s entire northern stretch of coastline<\/strong>. It is wild<\/strong>, rugged, and dramatic<\/strong>, and when the last few rays of sunlight<\/strong> up the tops of the cliffs<\/strong>, stunning.<\/p>\n
