The future of urban mobility is green, with public transport, cycling and walking overtaking car usage within\u00a0the 2030.<\/h2>\n

This is what is predicted by Kantar in its study called Mobility Futures<\/em><\/a>, which analysed 31 cities around the\u00a0world and how they will transform in the next 10 years.<\/p>\n

In fact, from the 2020 and the 2030, sustainable public transport usage will represent 49% of all urban trips\u00a0versus 46% for cars.<\/p>\n

According to the study, cycling<\/strong><\/a> will have the largest increase<\/strong> of all of 18%, with walking and public transport\u00a0following behind with an increase of 15% and 6% respectively. Car usage, on the other hand, will have a\u00a0decrease of 10%.<\/p>\n

The cities best prepared for ecological change in urban mobility<\/h2>\n

Manchester will see the biggest change in urban mobility. In fact, public transport usage will increase of\u00a020% while there will be a decrease in car usage of 24%. Moscow, S\u00e3o Paulo and Paris<\/strong><\/a> follow behind. Milan<\/strong><\/a>
\nis the sixth city together with Guangzhou.<\/p>\n

People are increasingly looking for more sustainable and healthier ways to travel, claims the study.<\/p>\n

If right now, across the 31 cities examined, 25% of people would like to use different modes of\u00a0transport, it is predicted that 10% will change the way of travel in the next 10 years, the intensity\u00a0of which varying from city to city \u2013 from the 21% of S\u00e3o Paulo to the 2% of Beijing.<\/p>\n

Amsterdam<\/strong><\/a> is the most prepared city, sustainably speaking \u2013 the study says \u2013 with London<\/strong>, Los\u00a0Angeles, Shanghai and New York right behind. However, not every city is as prepared as them.<\/p>\n

Citizens and cities have to meet halfway to make this change possible. If, on one hand, there are\u00a0cities prepared for this kind of change, but lacks their citizens\u2019 trust, on the other hand there are\u00a0cities not prepared, but with their citizens\u2019 trust already in their own hands.<\/p>\n

Thus, there is not just the need to invest and to promote a sustainable mindset \u2013 and, in addition,\u00a0technologies for a sustainable urban mobility – to facilitate this change, but there is also the need\u00a0to understand citizen\u2019s needs and satisfy them by designing sustainable and environmentally\u00a0friendly solutions.<\/p>\n

This is only possible by implementing green policies that would make the change in urban mobility\u00a0not only on paper but also present in the citizens\u2019 mindsets through awareness campaigns.<\/p>\n
