Could you tell us something about Casas Benal\u00ed, and how did the project of your eco-friendly hotel start?![\"rooms](\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/06\/9-1.jpg\")

Casas Benal\u00ed is a restored hamlet with 68 hectares<\/strong> of land on a 1-hour drive from the city of Valencia. Ecotourism and Eco farming<\/strong> go hand in hand here. Dutch owners Dani\u00ebl and Martine<\/strong> work with an international team with the same spirit: promote a healthy, ecological, and sustainable way of living.<\/p>\nWe are a Dutch couple whose hearts truly belong in Spain<\/strong>. Since 2009 we are totally dedicated to rural eco-tourism.<\/strong><\/em>
\nOur passion for the Mediterranean\/Spanish cuisine, good products<\/strong>, and the organic farm<\/strong> became the drive of Benali.![\"rooms](\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/06\/10-1.jpg\")
<\/em><\/p>\n2. What practices of sustainability have you undertaken?<\/h3>\n
The hamlet was abandoned for many years. The first 3 years<\/strong> we spent all our free time to recover the 2000 olive trees<\/strong>, the fields with almond and walnut trees and all the fruit trees.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\nWe build a permaculture vegetable garden<\/strong> to keep our veggies safe from the wild pigs and save water by covering them with straw. It is also less weeding.<\/em>
\nWhen the generator broke, we decided to replace it with solar panels.<\/strong> Now the panels supply the whole hamlet and mini camping with electricity<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\nOur zero-waste philosophy<\/strong> is challenging us. We reuse all materials<\/strong> instead of buying new things. We avoid plastic<\/strong>. For example, all drinks are in recycling glass bottles<\/strong> and will be picked up weekly by the supplier.![\"organic](\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/06\/11.jpg\")
<\/em><\/p>\nOrganic waste<\/strong> goes to our animals (chicken, pig, rabbit, dogs, and cats) or the compost-boxes<\/strong> in the vegetable garden.<\/em>
\nWe cook ecological food and organize once a month an ecological farmers’ market<\/strong> in Benal\u00ed where all the local farmers<\/strong> can sell their products.<\/em><\/p>\n3. Which green itineraries near the hotel do you most recommend?<\/h3>\n
We are lucky<\/strong> we are surrounded by many itineraries<\/strong>. Hikes between 45 min and 4 hours are starting just in front of our door. Through the mountains, the green fields, caves, along streams, and little hidden lakes where you can swim.<\/em>
\nIt is a paradise<\/strong> for people who like mountain biking, horse riding, and adventure hikes.![\"landscapes](\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/06\/1.jpg\")
<\/em><\/p>\n4. What experiences your guests enjoy the most of their stay in your place?<\/h3>\n
Benal\u00ed has something unique to offer – silence.<\/strong> No traffic, no noise. Only nature. Where else do you find a place where you can meet the silence?<\/em>
\nThe stunning views, healthy food, yoga classes, and our hospitality<\/strong> gives our guests the experience of disconnecting and taking care of themselves.<\/em><\/p>\n5. In your opinion, do you think the number of people looking for holidays immersed in nature, away from pollution, is increasing?<\/h3>\n
These days, people are even more looking for tranquility<\/strong>, disconnection, nature, healthy food (also during their holidays), and personal attention.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n6. What does it mean for you to be a part of the Ecobnb community?<\/h3>\n
