We are all aware of the benefits of reducing your carbon footprint<\/a> and doing your part to be kinder to the environment. This can apply to everything, from what you eat and wear, to traveling. Many of us love to travel, but as you can imagine, flying across the world and going to certain resorts that don\u2019t think much about their surroundings and the community can be pretty harmful to the environment. To help you become an eco-friendlier traveler<\/strong>, here are five things that you can do.<\/p>\n

Reduce Your Waste<\/h2>\n

Reducing the amount of waste that you produce when you are at home and abroad can do the world a lot of good. For example, if you go to an all-inclusive resort, don\u2019t overindulge in food and if you decide to explore the local markets<\/strong> and shopping scene, bring your own reusable bags<\/strong> to reduce plastic waste. Do what you can to recycle recyclable material and look into local clean-up projects.<\/p>\n

Pack Light<\/h2>\n

When you fly, every kilo will play a part in the emissions a plane emits. When a plane weighs more, it will require more fuel to fly<\/a>, which will increase its carbon emissions, polluting the environment even more than it should. If everyone packed a bit lighter<\/strong>, by only bringing the things that they need, they will reduce the plane\u2019s fuel consumption.<\/p>\n

Using public transport instead of getting your own vehicle or a taxi is one of the best things that you can do for the environment while you travel because it means that you won\u2019t be creating any extra emissions<\/a>. It will also provide you with an opportunity to interact with and get fully immersed in the local culture and people<\/a>. Just make sure you travel safely when doing so.<\/p>\n
