Changing your shopping list you can have a <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2019\/11\/less-meat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">positive impact on the environment<\/a>.\u00a0The easiest way to make a <strong>positive impact on the environment<\/strong> begins with your shopping list. Much cheaper and easier than for example, an electric car or solar panels on your roof.<\/p>\n<h2>Select the best vegan food<\/h2>\n<p>With a little research, you can find the best meat, dairy, and fish substitutes. There are a lot of <strong>vegan products<\/strong> and <strong>recipes<\/strong> out there and some are really good, but a lot don\u2019t taste, smell, or look very nice. And some taste nice but not as what it is supposed to replace. All of these things can put people off from buying vegan products.<\/p>\n<p>When there are new products on the market, we try them; if they are good enough, we use them, otherwise, nice, but maybe for someone else. For example, we bought maybe eight different kinds of vegan cheese, but only two taste nice, with one being really good. The best is for our breakfast, but one of the lesser-known vegan cheeses is really good for melting, so different products can be used for different processes.<\/p>\n<h2>Suggestions for your vegan menus<\/h2>\n<p>Because we are quite remote, some of our guests ask if they can eat here. For those, we offer a starter, main, and dessert. Not very complicated but nice and filling meals (people who stay here often travel by bike).<\/p>\n<p>Here are some <strong>examples<\/strong> of our <strong>vegan recipes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<h3>Starters<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_28266\" class=\"thumbnail alignnone\"><img class=\"size-large wp-image-28266\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/11\/Parmigiana_di_melanzane-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"Vegan Eggplant Parmesan\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/11\/Parmigiana_di_melanzane-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/11\/Parmigiana_di_melanzane-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><div class=\"caption\">Vegan Eggplant Parmesan foto via wikimedia<\/div><\/div>\n<h4>\u2022 Oven-baked chicory<\/h4>\n<p>Chicory sliced in half, flat sides down, some slices of good melting cheese and a slice of a nice ham or bacon on top. Put this in the oven till it is nicely cooked and melted. (we use the best product for different purposes).<\/p>\n<h4>\u2022 Chicken satay skewers<\/h4>\n<p>Get the best <strong>Vegan chicken chunks<\/strong> (like our famous Vegetarian butcher chicken), marinade them as you are used to (I use sweet and salty soy sauce and a mix of spices and herbs). Put them on skewers (I make two skewers per p.p.)<br \/>\nThe longer you let it sit in the marinade, the better the taste, the same as \u201creal\u201d chicken. Then put them in a baking or grilling pan. Bake until \u201ctender\u201d\u2026. This is the other nice benefit of vegan meat, the cooking time is shorter, and the risk of salmonella and other bacteria is much smaller than with \u201cnormal meat\u201d.<\/p>\n<h4>\u2022 Vegan parmigiana di melanzane<\/h4>\n<p>Tomato sauce, eggplant, and vegan cheese, layered in a small oven dish. You can also make vegan parmesan with cashews and nutritional yeast.<\/p>\n<h3>Main Dishes<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_28267\" class=\"thumbnail alignnone\"><img class=\"size-large wp-image-28267\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/11\/ola-mishchenko-gzYiNoTSzxE-unsplash-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"spaghetti, vegan main dish\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/11\/ola-mishchenko-gzYiNoTSzxE-unsplash-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/11\/ola-mishchenko-gzYiNoTSzxE-unsplash-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><div class=\"caption\">Photo by OLA Mishchenko on Unsplash<\/div><\/div>\n<p>For the main dishes, I usually make a one-pot dish, preferably something \u201c<strong>local<\/strong>\u201d like mashed potatoes and greens, vegan bacon, and sausage. But chili risotto or spaghetti \u201cBolognese\u201d is also always good. Make it with Vegan minced meat and or some nice vegan cheese. I try to use suitable meat substitutes and traditional seasoning. Most seasoning is vegan anyway and gives a nice flavor to your dishes.
