Well, I was wrong.<br \/>\nEcovillages (or eco-villages) are <strong>communities with a strong ecological focus<\/strong> but the project is not exactly the one of a week or more of vacation stay. It may actually turn out to be <strong>THE PROJECT of a new life<\/strong> for your family and you.<\/p>\n<h2>Eco-village: from one seed many different trees!<\/h2>\n<p>An eco-village might be urban, suburban, or rural and they can range in size from a few to hundreds villagers. Some eco villages are attempts to shift existing neighborhoods or towns toward more sustainable living and more of a sense of community. Others are newly built, often featuring green or natural building techniques. Do not you think?<br \/>\nHave a look at some of the experiences herewith and find the perfect eco-village for you.<\/p>\n<p>From Torri Superiore in Liguria to the inhabitants of \u201cUrupia\u201d we set out to discover the most incredible ecovillages in Italy.<\/p>\n<h3>One of the oldest Ecovillages in Italy: Torri Superiore in the province of Imperia<\/h3>\n<p><img class=\"size-large wp-image-41428 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/torri-superiore-ecovillaggi-liguria-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"torri superiore ecovillages italy\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/torri-superiore-ecovillaggi-liguria-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/02\/torri-superiore-ecovillaggi-liguria-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is one of the oldest ecovillages in Italy (it came up in 1989). We are in <strong>Liguria<\/strong>, in the beautiful\u00a0<strong>Bevera river valley<\/strong> (inland of Ventimiglia), between woods and natural pools of pure water. Here, an ancient <strong>medieval village<\/strong>, long abandoned and turned into a pile of rubble, has been recovered with attention to <strong>sustainability<\/strong> and has become an architectural jewel to be discovered.\u00a0Initially, the recovery of the town seemed like a utopia, but after twenty years it was completed with over 150 rooms restored and returned to life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/s\/Torri+Superiore,+IM,+Italia?adults=2&amp;bounds=43.841852,7.555228,43.836586,7.549045&amp;place_id=ChIJdWGdKM_szRIRkEtE0WSRsMI&amp;search_type=locality&amp;extension=25e3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Torri Superiore<\/strong><\/a> hosted the first permaculture courses in Italy, today it deals with agricultural innovation, hospitality, and sustainable tourism. It also hosts many courses and events, from yoga seminars to facilitation courses.\u00a025 people live in the eco-village, including adults and children, who have been eating together for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for over 30 years. And <strong>no TV<\/strong> in any of the community houses: hard to believe, isn\u2019t it?<br \/>\nCattle breed and agriculture are mainly for self consume: elves work in agriculture and in the reconstruction and maintenance of their houses.<br \/>\n<strong>Curiosity:<\/strong> the \u201cElf community\u201d is not a \u201cclose up\u201d community. The community is working together with local institutions and city inhabitants to create a \u201cmulticultural center\u201d where the \u201celf children\u201d and the local children will go to school together. The education will be partly managed by the elf teachers and partly by state teachers. A great example of collaboration in search of mutual knowledge and a peaceful life.<\/p>\n<h3>Comune of Urupia \u2013 Francavilla Fontana (Brindisi): watch out for the Uro naughty trick!<\/h3>\n<p>Urupia means both <strong>\u201cthe naughty trick of Uro\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201cthe utopia of <\/strong>Uro\u201d, Uro being a fairy creature very similar to the elf of the Nordic myths.<br \/>\nBorn in 1995, the first members bought a fold and started to build their community from that place. Funny, you would say: the most technological of all guys who go back to basic.<br \/>\nAnd then it was Monica\u2019s turn: <strong>she left a full-time job in the city hospital<\/strong> to go for an adventure in a little country village with nothing defined and for sure except the idea she was ready for the change.<br \/>\nThey are now living together in Raveo, a little village in the Far East part of Italy, close to Austria and Slovenia.<br \/>\nThe main activity of their eco-village is agriculture: Devis grows <strong>zucchini, aubergines, beans of long-forgotten breed<\/strong>, <strong>corn to cook a real dark yellow polenta<\/strong> as we have never seen, and potatoes though his <strong>potatoes have a hole in the middle<\/strong>. A new potato breed? Increase the number of houses and flats on sale and for rent on the estate market: many \u201csilver hair people\u201d live by themselves in large houses and flats which could accommodate larger families.<br \/>\n2. Well, it may be but the cinema itself has started to investigate it.
