Dubai, Beijing and Abu Dhabi are only some of the metropolis which is going to become unlivable for humans by 2050.<\/h2>\n<p>Year by year Extreme Weather Events related to<a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/climate-changes-u-s-report\/\"> climate change<\/a>\u00a0are more intense and frequent. According to research carried out by ETH in Zurich and published by <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.plos.org\/plosone\/article?id=10.1371\/journal.pone.0217592\">the scientific magazine PLOS ONE<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0there are cities that are estimated to be <strong>unlivable<\/strong> and not suitable for\u00a0human life anymore by 2050. Study conducted by Tom Crowther from ETH Zurich<\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the following decades, some <strong>great cities<\/strong> will suffer from heat waves, high levels of humidity, droughts or catastrophic flooding. There are cities that are estimated to be unlivable and not suitable to support human life anymore by <strong>2050<\/strong>. As long as our habits stay the same, the scenery will be like this:<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0New Orleans, destroyed by hurricanes<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_27264\" class=\"thumbnail alignnone\"><img class=\"size-large wp-image-27264\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/10\/Katrina-800x490.jpg\" alt=\"city of New Orleans hit by the Hurricane\" width=\"800\" height=\"490\" \/><div class=\"caption\">New Orleans hit by hurricane Katrina via Wikimedia<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Located on the Louisiana coast and prone to flooding, <strong>New Orleans<\/strong> was hit by the violent hurricane <strong>Katrina<\/strong>\u00a0in 2005. It not only caused dozens of victims but it also destroyed 80% of the city. in fact according to the report of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrdc.org\/resources\/thirsty-answers-preparing-water-related-impacts-climate-change-american-cities\">Natural Resources Defense Council<\/a>\u00a0New Orleans is one of the 12 American cities in danger for climate change.\u00a0The reasons that can make this metropolis inhospitable by 2050 are different, ranging from water shortages to storms and intense floods, up to sea-level rise.<\/p>\n<h2>Shanghai, the airpocalypse<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_27265\" class=\"thumbnail alignnone\"><img class=\"size-large wp-image-27265\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/10\/shanghai-750x490.jpg\" alt=\"Smog in the city of Shanghai\" width=\"750\" height=\"490\" \/><div class=\"caption\">Shanghai by Ralf Leinewebe<\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong>Shanghai<\/strong> is the 3rd most populated city in the world. It is estimated that by 2070, living in Shanghai will be unbearable due to <strong>heatwaves<\/strong>. It&#8217;s caused by gas emissions which contribute to the <strong>greenhouse effect. <\/strong>In China, the current\u00a0mortality rate corresponds to 1.1 million per year, but this data is going to rise due to the presence of fine dust. This type of situation will be difficult to face and to be ready for. That&#8217;s why the State of Florida has proposed to build a wall along the sea-coast in order to prevent serious damage to houses and infrastructure. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatecosts2040.org\/files\/ClimateCosts2040_Report-v4.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Climate Integrity<\/a>\u00a0this would cost more than 75 million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>All these scientific reports encourage us to <strong>act<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Some countries such as <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.it\/blog\/2017\/07\/oslo-citta-senza-auto\/\">Norway <\/a>or <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.it\/blog\/2019\/10\/costa-rica-primo-paese-green\/\">Costa Rica<\/a>\u00a0are already fighting pollution. They&#8217;re trying to <strong>reduce CO2 emissions<\/strong> and to live more <strong>sustainably<\/strong>. Norway and Costa Rica can be both considered role models for every city in the world!
