And from August 1st we begin to consume the sources that the earth is not able to regenerate. It is a Negative Record never achieved before. This Earth Overshoot Day calls us to action!<\/em><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Resources<\/strong> of our Planet are reaching their limit also this year.\u00a0This <strong>August 1st<\/strong> marks <strong>Earth Overshoot Day<\/strong> &#8211; the day by which we will have used more of Earth&#8217;s natural resources than the Planet can renew in the whole year.\u00a0 Put simply, we use more ecological resources and services than nature can regenerate, and this puts the Earth on an <strong>unsustainable<\/strong> trajectory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resources are over. It\u2019s not a joke. It\u2019s the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.footprintnetwork.org\/\">Global Footprint Network<\/a><\/strong> to inform us about that.\u00a0The international association has calculated the amount of the global demand of goods and services and then they related\u00a0this amount with the total amount of carbon emission due to production, transport, and disposal.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have used a year\u2019s worth of Earth\u2019s resources in just seven months<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone wp-image-19797 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/gem-lauris-rk-409606-unsplash.jpg\" alt=\"Earth Planet First Resources: We have used a year\u2019s worth of Earth\u2019s resources in just seven months\" width=\"4592\" height=\"3056\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/gem-lauris-rk-409606-unsplash.jpg 4592w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/gem-lauris-rk-409606-unsplash-536x357.jpg 536w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/gem-lauris-rk-409606-unsplash-344x229.jpg 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 4592px) 100vw, 4592px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year we have used our resources in just <strong>212 days<\/strong>. A new <strong>negative record<\/strong> since 70&#8217;s. According with the <em>Global Footprint Network<\/em>&#8216;s calculations, at the end of 2018 we will have consumed\u00a0<strong>1,7 Planets<\/strong>. And this is the more optimistic prediction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are destroying <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/reforestation-amazon\/\" target=\"_blank\">forests<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>replacing them\u00a0with intensive agriculture. We are<strong> polluting air<\/strong>\u00a0just to\u00a0travel\u00a0ort to heat (or cool) our homes. We are <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2018\/07\/plastic-pollution-seas\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>polluting our oceans<\/strong> <\/a>and seas with plastic.\u00a0Through overfishing, overharvesting forests, and emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than forests can sequester,\u00a0we are demanding more from the Earth than it can produce.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Consequences are devastating<\/strong>: desertification, biodiversity destruction, acidification of the oceans, soils exploitation or reduced amount of drinkable water. The environmental deficit produced in the lasts decades is compromising the balance of the Earth biological system. And also the future of ours lives is threatened.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The climate is changing<\/strong> and it\u2019s\u00a0impossible\u00a0to say the opposite. In the North Pole temperatures are now warmer then usually. In the Northern and Central America hurricanes are increasing their power of destruction. We need to stop this catastrophic scenario. We must push back Earth Overshoot Day. As faraway as possible.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Which countries are consuming more resources?<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone wp-image-19805 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/calvin-hanson-671278-unsplash-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"Which countries are consuming more resources?\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/calvin-hanson-671278-unsplash-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/calvin-hanson-671278-unsplash-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Only <strong>14% of global population<\/strong> has the possibility to live in a place where the resources are used in a sustainable way. But the remaining 86% is not doing that. A good news is that <strong>China<\/strong> has reduced his environmental impact of 0,3% in the last year. A very little percentage, but positive.<\/p>\n<p>In general, the more developed countries have reduced their <strong>environmental footprint<\/strong> of about <strong>13%<\/strong> from 2000 until today. This fact that maybe reflects the environmental protection strategies adopted by<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite the good performance of some country, others States are continuing in the worst direction. For example, <strong>Italy<\/strong> is going to exhaust 2,7 planets this year. And that is the worst performance of an European country. But <strong>South\u00a0<\/strong><b>Korea<\/b>\u00a0and <strong>Japan<\/strong> exceed also Italy, becoming the first and second more consuming countries in the world.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">How to move the date of the Earth Overshoot Day?<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-19799\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/hugues-de-buyer-mimeure-350387-unsplash-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"Planet Overshoot Footprint\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/hugues-de-buyer-mimeure-350387-unsplash-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/07\/hugues-de-buyer-mimeure-350387-unsplash-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Everyone can choose one or more steps to help #MoveTheDate of Earth Overshoot Day and create a sustainable future. During the week of the <strong>Earth Overshoot Day<\/strong> a lot of <strong>events<\/strong> are promoted by the <em>Global Footprint Network<\/em>\u00a0all around the world to awareness global population about environmental problems.<\/p>\n<p>How we can reduce\u00a0the consumption of planet resources?\u00a0Just to give an\u00a0example, we can choose <strong>sustainable\u00a0food<\/strong>, reducing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/meat-consumption-report-wwf\/\" target=\"_blank\">meat\u00a0consumption<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0Having care of\u00a0our diet and reducing wastes,\u00a0we can reduce our environmental footprint until 16%. That means to postpone the Overshoot Day of 42 days!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As <em>Global Footprint Network<\/em> suggests us, let\u2019s say stop to the waste of resources. Let&#8217;s respect the environment and his biodiversity.
