For this time, which will be the first but certainly not the last, we will explore some of the many jewels that Abruzzo can give us, visiting in particular the province of Chieti for a green weekend.

Chieti, one of the oldest cities in Italy

According to legend founded by Achilles, who named it Teate in honor of his mother, Chieti retains all the wonder and magic of the Roman and medieval times.
Chieti is a small monumental city, surrounded by woodland, which contains numerous exquisitely Italian beauties. It is a perfect destination for a sustainable holiday; its evocative alleys, the Roman Amphitheater and the whole Archaeological Park, the ancient and solemn Cathedral of San Giustino, Piazza Gian Battista Vico and all the other wonders of the town can be discovered calmly and slowness, on foot.

Pollutri, an ancient and charming village

Pollutri represents the most relaxed and ancient soul of the region. The ancient village, which has maintained its typically medieval structure, surprises with its characteristic arcade, the striking stairways and its many blind alleys. Here life flows slower, perhaps in a more authentic way.

Wood of Don Venanzio Nature Reserve, one of the last plain woods

A few minutes from the village of Pollutri, there is the wood of Don Venanzio, one of the last patches of the Adriatic plain forest. It is a destination suitable for everyone, perfect for relaxing in nature. The paths of the reserve allow you to enter the woods, reaching charming corners and discovering trees that reach 25 meters in height and footsteps of foxes and badgers.

Food and flavors of Abruzzo

Red garlic of Sulmona, photo via pxhere

As its territory and its culture are varied, the cuisine of Abruzzo has so many souls.
