After years of devastation, finally good news for our planet&#8217;s green lung.<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Brazil gives green a chance. The larger ever project of reforestation, promoted by the US ONG Conservation International, will introduce <strong>73 million of new trees<\/strong> in an area sadly known as &#8216;<em>arc of deforestation&#8217;<\/em>, spreading from North-Western Brazil to the river basin of Xingo in the centre of the Country.<\/p>\n<p>In the next<strong> six years<\/strong> 23 million ha will be repopulated, moving down the ruthless deforestation which took place for years in favour of intensive farming.<\/p>\n<h2>Reforesting the Amazon to stop climate change<\/h2>\n<p>M. Image credit: NASA\/JPL-Caltech\/UCLA\/Winrock International\/Colorado State University\/University of Edinburgh\/Applied GeoSolutions\/University of Leeds\/Agence Nationale des Parcs Nationaux\/Wake Forest University\/University of Oxford<\/div><\/div>\n<h2>Muvuca: the innovative reforestation technique<\/h2>\n<p>The project will adopt an <strong>innovative planting technique<\/strong>, recently developed by Brazilian farmers, named<strong> <em>muvuca<\/em><\/strong> (literally, crowd of people in a narrow space).<\/p>\n<p>This strategy consists in spreading more than <strong>200 native seed species<\/strong> for each square meter of deforested land.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201ccrowd\u201d of future trees sown in a such limited area will see a <strong>natural selection<\/strong>, based on nutriment from the ground and solar light, which will allow to grow only the strongest exemplars.<\/p>\n<p>According to studies from <em>Food and Agriculture and Biodiversity International<\/em>, thanks to muvuca rainforests have a <strong>90% of trees<\/strong> that can survive without water for over six months.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OKUHbwg11Io\" width=\"840\" height=\"490\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With such a great and brilliant initiative, fuelled by a very effective local planting method, we\u2019ll can finally touch with hand important results. After ten years of work could grow <strong>5000 trees per hectare<\/strong>.
