{"id":15078,"date":"2017-08-07T10:49:20","date_gmt":"2017-08-07T08:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/?p=15078"},"modified":"2017-08-07T10:49:20","modified_gmt":"2017-08-07T08:49:20","slug":"reduce-water-consumption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/reduce-water-consumption\/","title":{"rendered":"Why reduce water consumption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are surrounded by water, yet the <strong>fresh<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>one<\/strong>, which we can use for civic, agricultural, industrial and recreational uses, is less than <strong>one<\/strong> <strong>percent.<\/strong> Theoretically, it\u00a0is constantly renewed from the <strong>evaporation<\/strong> and <strong>precipitation cycle<\/strong> but because of man&#8217;s activities the quality of it\u00a0is\u00a0degrading more and more, and <strong>climate change<\/strong> will lead to a significant <strong>decrease<\/strong> in <strong>rainfall<\/strong> and at the same time to a <strong>higher water<\/strong> <strong>consumption<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15080\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/07\/levi-xu-125529-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"Why reduce water consumption\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/07\/levi-xu-125529-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/07\/levi-xu-125529-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The H2O\u00a0shortage, which we are already experiencing and which in these conditions is going to get worse, could lead to conflicts in a few years. It is therefore essential to learn how to <strong>reduce water consumption<\/strong> both in <strong>accommodation facilities<\/strong> and in our <strong>homes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Here are some <strong>easy<\/strong> but <strong>effective ways<\/strong> to reduce water:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply a <strong>flow reducer<\/strong> to all your home or B&amp;B taps that can save up to 50% of H2O;<\/li>\n<li>Choose the <strong>shower<\/strong> instead of the bathtub, which requires an amount of water four times higher than the shower;<\/li>\n<li>Buy only class <strong>A+<\/strong> <strong>appliances<\/strong> that, in addition to consuming less energy, consume less of this invaluable resource;<\/li>\n<li>Use\u00a0washing machine and dishwasher only at <strong>full load<\/strong> and periodically clean the appliance filter;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wash<\/strong> dishes, fruits and vegetables in a <strong>basin<\/strong> and use only running water for rinsing;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Re-use<\/strong> whenever possible used water, for example, for washing vegetables or for\u00a0your garden or plants;<\/li>\n<li>Water the plants in the evening, after sunset H2O\u00a0evaporates more slowly;<\/li>\n<li>Use water-saving<strong>\u00a0flushes<\/strong> that consume less than 4.5 liters of jet;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collect rainwater<\/strong> and use it for secondary use, for example to wash your car or for your\u00a0garden;<\/li>\n<li>Provide <strong>proper maintenance<\/strong>\u00a0to the entire hydraulic\u00a0system; a tap that loses one drop per second disperses in a year about 5,000 liters;<\/li>\n<li>In the case of an artificial lake or a pool, install a <strong>recycling<\/strong> <strong>pump<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Consume (or offer to your guests) as little meat as possible, a vegetarian diet consumes from 1500 to 2600 liters of H2O\u00a0while a diet rich in meat can consume up to 5,400 l;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-15081\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/07\/edouard-tamba-140575-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"Why reduce water consumption\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/07\/edouard-tamba-140575-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/07\/edouard-tamba-140575-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These are just some of the small actions that each of us can do to reduce our <strong>water<\/strong> <strong>footprint<\/strong>, waiting for radical change and a great cultural and <strong>political investment <\/strong>by our governments and politicians.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>You might also like:<\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2017\/01\/biodiversity-will-save-us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Only biodiversity will save us<\/a><\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/2016\/11\/reduce-waste-packaging\/\" target=\"_blank\">How to reduce waste and packaging<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are surrounded by water, yet the fresh\u00a0one, which we can use for civic, agricultural, industrial and recreational uses, is less than one percent.
