The Italian Villages are the perfect destination for a <strong>slow journey<\/strong> and these twelve months will be the best time to visit and live them.<br \/>\nThe Minister of cultural activities and tourism, <strong>Dario Franceschini<\/strong>, declared <strong>2017 the Year of Villages<\/strong> in Italy, commenting on the decision:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The villages that dot the area of \u200b\u200bour regions are rich in history, culture and traditions, and they are the cornerstone for the growth of sustainable tourism, able to create authentic experiences for visitors and to allow an\u00a0harmonious development for\u00a0the communities who live there. The Year of Villages will be an important opportunity to promote these realities that contribute so much to the quality of life in our country.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After the Year of Walk, in Italy they continue to aim to\u00a0an <strong>experiential<\/strong> <strong>tourism<\/strong>, that promotes\u00a0<strong>lesser-known<\/strong> <strong>territories<\/strong> and allows\u00a0to live authentic experiences, pointing to <strong>traditions<\/strong>, <strong>landscapes<\/strong>, <strong>typical<\/strong> <strong>products<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s start, let&#8217;s explore the beautiful villages of Italy. Let&#8217;s\u00a0breathe the <strong>unique atmosphere<\/strong> of these little pearls of art and knowledge that attract visitors from around the world. They have something intangible hard to tell, but that\u00a0fills your heart. With this being said, here is my personal selection of the villages of Italy, my favorite, the ones I most loved, or the ones I\u00a0dream of discovering during the next trip. It leaves you speechless, with its colorful and stacked houses overlooking the marina and the deep blue sea. It&#8217;s beautiful walking in the intricate network of narrow streets and staircases, immersed in a unique landscape, between sea and mountains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where to stay in Riomaggiore<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/IT-spezia\/bed-breakfast\/affittacamere-dai-baracca\/vVqn5\" target=\"_blank\">Affitacamere Dai Baracca<\/a>\u00a0is a delightful eco-friendly B&amp;B, located in the center of the village. At one time they were 72, now there are 14. In this pearl of unique charm you can breathe the perfume of\u00a0saffron, the main ingredient of the typical dishes of the village.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where to stay:<\/strong> a few steps from San Gimignano, you can stay in the countryside, surrounded by 40 hectares of olive trees and vineyards at the <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/IT-siena\/farm-house\/poderi-arcangelo\/FjfFm\" target=\"_blank\">Organic Farm\u00a0Poderi Arcangelo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Canale di Tenno, the barrel vaults, the narrow streets\u00a0and its\u00a0magical Christmas market<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_13080\" class=\"thumbnail alignnone\"><img class=\"size-large wp-image-13080\" src=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/15467697520_188cee3631_b-870x490.jpg\" alt=\"Canale di Tenno, one of the most beautiful villages in Trentino\" width=\"870\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/15467697520_188cee3631_b-870x490.jpg 870w, https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/02\/15467697520_188cee3631_b-570x320.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><div class=\"caption\">Photo by Romtomtom via Flickr<\/div><\/div>\n<p>We move to Trentino, a few kilometers from the famous Lake Garda. Here lies a town of rustic charm, Canal di Tenno,\u00a0that climbs the mountain side. The best time to visit is the Christmas season, because it is home to a unique Christmas market. The stalls full of local products and wonderful crafts are space inside the cellars of the houses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where to stay<\/strong>: the eco-sustainable accommodation\u00a0closest to Canale di Tenno is located in the beautiful Torbole, which overlooks Lake Garda. It&#8217;s the <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/IT-trento\/hotel\/eco-bonapace\/whTFR\" target=\"_blank\">Eco Hotel Bonapace<\/a>, zero-impact building\u00a0that offers every comfort.<\/p>\n<h3>Vico del Gargano, the Umbra Forest and the sea<\/h3>\n<p>A very quaint old town, in the heart of the wild Gargano National Park: this village has ancient origins and retains the authentic charm of this incredible corner of Puglia, made of unique views, landscapes, narrow streets and alleys.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where to stay<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/ecobnb.com\/IT-foggia\/bed-breakfast\/b-b-sul-gargano-pizzicato-eco-b-b\/8mFbP\" target=\"_blank\">Pizzicato Eco B&amp;B<\/a> is the perfect place to discover the village and all the surroundings of\u00a0the Gargano Park. It is a village characterized by atmospheres of other times and slow rhythms.
