The oldest botanical garden in the world is located in Padua. Founded in 1545, it is still located in its original location, in an area of \u200b\u200b2.2 hectares that is now a UNESCO World Heritage<\/strong> site in 1997.<\/p>\n

Born as Horto<\/em>\u00a0medicinale<\/em>, for the cultivation of medicinal plants<\/strong> that made up the majority of “simple” medicines from nature, it was used by the University of Padua\u00a0to achieve in medicine<\/strong> and pharmaceutical studies<\/strong> and applications<\/strong>; and because the rare and precious flora cultivated in it was often subject to theft, a circular enclosure wall, that is still visibile, was built. So its name changed in “Hortus Cintus<\/em>“.<\/p>\n
