Imagine the indescribable beauty of Paris<\/strong> without a car. Maybe\u00a0this is the dream of the first citizen<\/strong> of the French capital.
\nAnne Hidalgo continues in her\u00a0attempt to turn Paris into a green<\/strong> city<\/strong>; after July 1, when she imposed a ban on the circulation on weekdays to vehicles registered before 1997, now she seeks to promote the service of public transport, with an idea that we think is absolutely brilliant, and that must be repeated\u00a0in other large European cities.<\/p>\n

\nFor voluntary membership, who will leave the car in the garage can circulate for free<\/strong> with all public transport: metro, bus, car sharing<\/strong> and electric bicycles<\/strong>. A great effort to show how it is possible to live in the city without the private car. The members completed a questionnaire and supported a short interview\u00a0and now they will receive the documents to use any kind of public transport\u00a0free of charge<\/strong>. At the end of this week without cars, the participants will receive small prizes that will be awarded during a public ceremony.<\/p>\n

It is another part of the “Cycling\u00a0Plan\u00a02015-2020<\/strong>” of the mayor, which plans to invest over 150 million Euros to double the length and quality of bike routes.\u00a0In addition to this initiative, the project\u00a0is planning to create 45 km of new cycling axes that cross Paris from north to south and from east to west, along the Seine, as shown in this graphic published by\u00a0Le Parisien<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The goal of this forward-looking plan, which is called R\u00e9seau express v\u00e9lo\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(express network for bicycles) whose acronym is REVe (which in French also means dream), is to triple the current rate of use of bicycles in Paris for transfers, from 5% to 15%. To do it,\u00a0the country is going\u00a0to invest 150 million Euros and realize 6 main actions:<\/p>\n
