Trullo Cicerone

Strada Cicerone 6 - 74015 Martina Franca - Taranto - Italy

Charming trullo in a vineyard

Our trullo has two bedrooms, one living room, a bathroom with shower and toilet and an external kitchen on the a vine-shaded terrace with a view over the vineyard.

Our authentic trullo from the 18th century is situated in the picturesque Valle d’Itria in Apulia, close to Martina Franca. The exclusive lodge consists of two bedrooms, one living room, a bathroom with shower and toilet, another outdoor bathroom, a cooking and dining area on the vine-covered terrace overlooking our small vineyard and orchard, and a private swimming pool (in summer). We welcome especially (but of course not only) families with children. We have a number of outdoor toys: a big trampoline, swings, and a boccia lane. And: there is no TV!
Electricity is powered by solar panels.

The trullo and the yurt are situated in the pittoresque Valle d'Itria in Apulia, close to Martina Franca. Other nearby towns are Cisternino, Locorotondo, Ostuni and Alberobello. It is a 20-minute drive to the Adriatic coast and 30 minutes to the Ionian Sea.

We are an international family that has decided to settle down in Southern Italy after having lived on three continents. I (Ursula) am an archaeologist, a book author, and a passionate cook. My husband Manoocher is a photojournalist who has worked around the globe and continues to work for international magazines and to share his work and life experience.
We firmly believe in km 0 products and sustainable living. We grow most of our fruits and vegetables, make our own wine and olive oil, and use solar power.

As an archaeologist and food historian, I offer workshops about historic cuisine. Host Manoocher, a National Geographic contributing photographer, offers private photography classes.

I would also like to recommend my novel "The Emir's Trace", which deals with an almost forgotten chapter of Apulian history.

We speak Italian, English, German, French, Spanish, Farsi, Turkish, and Azeri.

We stayed at Trullo Cicerone in July 2017- in the full Summer heat! Now we are not an easy family to accommodate- 2 adults and 4 children ranging from 14 to 4 years. We are vegetarian and have Coeliacs amongst us. Our hosts could not have been more accomodating. The Trullo was divine and cool and felt like home immediately. It was a wonderful experience to stay in such a traditional home on a working farm. We also took over the yurt (also beautiful) and the pool and enjoyed the space and relaxed vibe. Our breakfasts were light and delicious and made with produce from the farm. We found Ursula and her family to be really easy to be with and very happy to share advice of the area and their experience with living there. Our only problem was finding the place! But this says more about us than anything! The sunsets were wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed wines in the extraordinary light of Puglia in the unique environment. Thank you! We plan to return!

It has been noticed: Organic or Local Food, Green building.
