The starting point for your excursions, between Lake Orta, Mottarone and Lake Maggiore.
Surrounded by greenery, away from the usual tourist circuits but, at the same time, a stone's throw from Lake Orta and the beauties of Mottarone, our house is an ancient farmhouse recently renovated with a beautiful view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The area is quiet and sunny, surrounded by beech and chestnut woods. It is the ideal starting point for trekking and mountain biking, as well as for relaxing walks and hiking routes.
On foot, you can reach Armeno in a 15-minute forest path, in 40 minutes Pettenasco; Orta is 4 km away.
To get to our house you go along a 1 km unpaved road, attention: not suitable for low or very wide cars.
The atmosphere is welcoming and familiar, we have two independent apartments, one consisting of kitchen, bathroom and double bedroom, the other consisting of a double room with single beds and a kitchenette, bathroom and double bedroom.

With more than 500 km of trails and mule tracks, the area surrounding Lake Orta lends itself to being discovered on foot or by mountain bike. It is a natural environment that is still intact and retains many traces of past activities. Follow them, you will discover ancient villages that testify to the great mastery of our people in the processing of stone and wrought iron. In the woods you will see the terraces that were used for the cultivation of rye or grapevine, as well as the chestnut groves and the remains of charcoal kilns. Going up towards the Mottarone, you will meet numerous mountain pastures, where every year the families of the village went up with the cattle to spend the summer season there. Many of them are still loaded, and this is where the excellent toma of Mottarone comes from, fresh ricotta and butter with the scent of mountain herbs.
Ours is the ideal environment to recharge and live an active holiday, made of fun and learning, observation and respect for the environment, interaction and deepening. The active holiday is one that involves you physically and / or mentally, connects you with yourself and with your surroundings. It creates awareness, and by its very nature it is sustainable for the environment, it takes care of bio-diversity and preservation of every cultural aspect of the place you visit.

Our stay at the relaxing Casale Baltera was just what my girlfriend and I needed during our travels. We immediately felt right at home with the warm welcome Marisa and her family provided us as well as the environmentally conscious mindset. The beautifully renovated farmhouse offered us a cozy apartment style room that, although seemingly isolated, was a short walk or drive into Armeno which is very well connected to the surrounding towns and lakes. We are both rock climbers and hikers and Casale Baltera is in a perfect location for both with a lifetime of climbing and hiking within a short drive from the property. If you are looking for a secluded, picturesque accomodation where you can cook and rest all the while still being well connected to the surrounding area, then Baltera is perfect for you!
